Plagiarism?
Sifting thru various reports in the internet and physical newspapers, Phaw noticed something common in all of them. Some reports had the word “AP” at the end. Upon going further, he noticed that some reports in one newspaper were also found in other newspapers(physical or online…) word per word! Aha, plagiarism! Fortunately, not :).
Phaw did some research on the internet and found out that this is legally possible. The “AP” tag was the clue. AP or Associated Press is an American News Agency that sort of “rents” their stories or reports for a fee. Here is their description based from wikipedia:
The Associated Press (AP), is an American news agency. The AP is a cooperative owned by its contributing newspapers, radio and television stations in the United States, which both contribute stories to the AP and use material written by its staffers. Many newspapers and broadcasters outside the United States are AP subscribers, paying a fee to use AP material without being contributive members of the cooperative.
So ends the case of plagiarism.
