oleophobic coating

When I first heard the word “oleophobic”, I turned to Google to find its meaning and this is what I found, “Describes the surface of a material that is not easily coated by and actually repels an organic, non-polar oil”. So when the Iphone 3G S is introducing an oleophobic coating, it is just introducing a solution to one of the Iphone’s (and Itouch’s) problems which is smudgy screens.

Yes, older Apple touch screen products have this problem. Though this is not a major problem per se, it definitely annoys Apple owners. A simple call that touches your oily cheek or an oily finger that is being used to touch the screen leaves smudgy oil all over the place.

And now the Iphone 3G S will take care of that and we have Apple to thank for.
