If you are wondering what the new version of PS3 is then wonder no more. There is nothing new in terms of hardware but what is new is the firmware, version 3.00 to be exact. This new version focuses on enhancing the navigational features.
You can download this update from the official Playstation site or you can download it via the Playstation network which is the recommended way to do so.
