In my quest to expose the Adsense Gurus’ Adsense secrets (well this introduction is a bit hyped hehe..), here is another Adsense Guru who agreed to spill the beans! None other than Dexter Panganiban of Tech at Hand.
Here is the full script of our conversation. This is somewhat similar to the script I had with Jehz. I opted to do so so that you can see the difference between what different Adsense gurus have to say (script is as is, just fixed the spacing and stuff…). Here goes:
Phaw: So thank you Dexter for accepting this interview, so how are you doing?
Dexter: Everything is Fine, I am having my vacation here in Philippines.
Phaw: How long have you been blogging?
Dexter: I have been blogging for about 2..5 years already. I made my first blog last December 2006
Phaw: Other than blogging, what do you do? Do you have a full-time job?
Dexter: Yes I have a full time job at Saudi Arabia as a Mechanical Engineer.
Phaw: Do you have any plans on taking this online earning venture to the next level (full-time)?
Dexter: As of this moment I am not yet thinking of doing it full time. But nobody knows what will happen in future.
Phaw: How long did it take for you to earn $100 in Adsense?
Dexter: It took about almost 6 mos to get my $100.
(Ok now to the meaty part of the interview)
Phaw: No need to give the exact figures but how many digits of income do you earn from Adsense(dollars/peso)?
Dexter: In Dollars , I am a constant 3 digit earner in ad sense per month.. In peso it is usually 5 digit, I have not yet attain 6 digit level in peso per month . But in 3 to 4 mos I can do it J
Phaw: How many blogs do you have to create that income?
Dexter: I own 3 blogs that earns constantly and I have other blogs that earns occasionally sorry I can’t tracck how many are they , I can’t count it J
Phaw: For those starting to blog, what niche do you recommend them take?
Dexter: The niche that I can recommend is the niche that they love to talk about, so that they will not run out of topic. Don’t hit for a topic because you just heard it is earning a lot. But a beginner should think his blog like a bussiness , he should have passion over it.
Phaw: Do you only do pure seo or do you use PPC as well?
Dexter: I use SEO, but I am now exploring the possibilities of earning more thru PPC. But I am on the beginning stage of doing it . And thanks to zalds.com for teaching me this things.
Phaw: So how many hours do you allot for SEO per day?
Dexter: I don’t have fix hours for doing SEO, I just do SEO if I have new keywords to optimized.
Phaw: When you say you do SEO, what exactly do you do? Or is this a secret =P?
Dexter: SEO is not really a secret, there are lots of e-books, Blogs and internet content that talks about SEO, it is a matter of digging and digging the information that could be found in the net. I also share some experience in SEO at my SEO category at http://techathand.net. SEO is also socializing. It does not stop in being just in the first page of SERP.
Phaw: When are you going to hold another SEO contest?
Dexter: I have never made any SEO Contest but maybe soon I will do it who knows .
Phaw: How do you optimize for a keyword?
Dexter: Most of the time it is by interlinking keywords within my blog and also with the help of my online friends that are also linking at my post. I can say that social media also helps indirectly in optimizing a keyword. Try to experiment and observe you will learn a lot from your competitors. Try to make friends with them J
Phaw: Do you think content is King?
Dexter: I still believe that content is king. Content will gain reputation both online and offline. Thru content you will have your constant visitors that will later help you rank well in SERP.
Phaw: To the newbies (like me), what do you think is the best step we can do to increase our Adsense incomes?
Dexter: I suggest to research about the keywords that are low dense but high search keywords. Don’t believe that you can earn a lot if you put lots of ad sense Codes at your blog. Optimized you ad sense Ads and be friendly to your visitors. And in the long run your ad sense income will go up. Just be patient .and make link exchange to different blogs.
Phaw: What mistakes do you often see newbies doing in their Adsense campaigns?
Dexter: They usually put lots of Adsense Ads in a blog post even without visitors. And when visitor came the tendency is to go away , because the new visitor thinks that the site is an MFA ( Made for Adsense Site)
Phaw: Who is your Adsense mentor? Do you have one?
Dexter: The internet is my ad sense Mentor. I love researching and observing what other is doing.
Phaw: Have you heard of HyperVRE? What do you think of it?
Dexter: Nope , I don’t know about it.
Phaw: I often see a lot of newbies get discouraged quite easily when they only see cents in their daily earnings, what message do you have for them?
Dexter: Cents could become 1 digit dollars someday and 2 digits and possibly 3 digit dollar a day don’t loose hope. I have experienced this, and I know other too.
Phaw: Would you like to thank anyone for helping you when you were a newbie before?
Dexter: I have lots of bloggers to thank better not to mention anyone so that not to forget others. You can just check my links section at my blog. I can also say that thanks to iblog4 where I met lots of blogger online last year.
Phaw: Any additional tips for anyone wanting to earn an income online?
Dexter: Don’t just put all your effort in Adsense, try to search for other make money online site, like int text advertsing and other advertsing company. So that when Adsense do not work well there are still some other site that could give more income. I would also suggest of having 1 main blog and do some small niche blogs J. You should love the subject that you are blogging so that even you earn cents , you will not just stop it.
Attend Bloggers event if possible and don’t forget to bring calling cards.
Phaw: Thanks a lot Dexter!
