First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit image

The existing $8000 first time home buyer tax credit will be extended under a proposal by Senate Democrats. In addition to that, some people who already own a home and buys a new one could qualify for a $6,500 credit if they have lived in their prior residence for five years.

“The compromise we have now would expand the credit beyond first-time home buyers,” Lachapelle said, an aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Here is a summary of the proposal:

* First time home buyers, the income level to qualify is $75,000/150,000 (couple).
* For step up buyers the income level to qualify is $125,000/250,000 (couple).
* For first time buyers the credit remains $8,000.
* For step up buyers, they must have been residing in their primary residence for 5 years.
* For Step up buyers the credit is 10% of the sales price, with a maximum of $6,500.
* The credit runs from Dec. 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010.
* For legitimate sales contracts as of April 30, 2010 you have 60 days to close.
* There is a waiver for military.

California Gang Rape Plus Live Show??!!

America has once again witnessed another repulsive crime that would make your stomach roll over. In Richmond, California, police say that as many as 20 people were involved in or stood and watched the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl outside a California high school homecoming dance Saturday night.

2 teens have already been arrested and more is to come as the investigation goes underway. A $20,000 reward is also being posted for anyone coming in with information that can lead to information that helps arrest and convict those involved.

“We will be making arrests continually as we develop probable cause,” said Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan. “With this number of people implicated in the incident we’re going to be making arrests on an ongoing basis.”

It is worth noting that the rape happened in public in a high school campus. While the brutality of the crime is highlighted by the number of people involved. It is said that 10 people were directly involved in the assault while 10 people watched the “live show” without notifying the police of the undergoing crime which lasted for over 2 hours.

Witnessing a crime and not telling the police is almost unthinkable. But witnessing a crime and enjoying it for 2 hours is diabolic. Such people is society’s abomination. Unfortunately, being a bystander at the crime scene and not informing the authorities is not a crime.

The victim remains in the hospital and is already in a stable physical condition. Emotionally, however, I doubt that. Having a group of people rape you for such a long period of time while others do not bother to help but simply watch can dramatically change her outlook of life. Talks of economic recovery dominate the news but what about the recovery of moral standards?

Watch Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 Episode 1 Online image

As part of its usual marketing strategy, HBO has once again released a 4 part documentary series of the Pacquiao-Cotto boxing match. The series will document the two fighters’ will to win and the rigorous training they would have to endure to prepare them for their upcoming fight on November 14 which will be held at Las Vegas, Nevada.

The video starts with Pacquiao battling not only a tough training but also mother nature itself. The location of his training was ravaged by multiple super typhoons causing him to miss some of his usual training “stuff” for other alternatives.

On the other hand, Cotto has started his training a few weeks earlier giving him a headstart. He looks confident and physically tough and has the killer instinct to bring the Pacman down.

Baby Einstein Recall image

If you bought a Baby Einstein, then you might be eligible for the Baby Einstein recall. Disney is offering a full refund of $15.99 to anyone who purchased a Baby Einstein DVD between June 5, 2004 and Sept. 4, 2009. The reason behind this is prominent research shows that these videos are ineffective thus are worthless.

“We see it as an acknowledgment by the leading baby video company that baby videos are not educational, and we hope other baby media companies will follow suit by offering refunds.” said Susan Linn, director of Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.

Really then, the secret to an intelligent baby relies not on any educational DVD but on the parents themselves. Train them right from a tender age and expect your babies to grow up as intellectual individuals.

Cancer Cure? The Kitchen! (Cabbage, Onions, Raspberries, Olives)

Today is another episode with “Cancer Cure? _______”. Once again I am bringing you knowledge from the newsletters I am subscribed to and today we have a new cancer fighter, our very own kitchen! No, I don’t mean that you have to stay in kitchen to get cured or anything like that, but I just want to point out that taken for granted ingredients in the kitchen are often overlooked as cancer fighters. And as the title of this post points out they are cabbage, onions, raspberries and olives. We will answer questions like “Is there cabbage curing in breast cancer?” or “Are olives a cure for cancer?”.

And without further ado, here are the words of wisdom about cancer and I quote:

Cabbage

Cabbage is high in glucosinolates, which are anticarcinogenic compounds. A study of hundreds of Polish American women found that those who consumed four or more servings of raw or lightly cooked cabbage per week were 72% less likely to develop breast cancer than those who had 1-2 servings. If cabbage isn’t your thing, good substitutes are Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale and broccoli.

Red Onion Layers

Onions are high in quercetin, and a Finnish study showed that men who ate them frequently were 60% less likely do develop lung cancer than those who ate smaller amounts. Quercetin also appears to reduce risk for liver and colon cancers. Other foods high in quercetin are apples, capers, and both green and black tea.

Raspberries On A Spoon

Raspberies, and almost any berries for that matter contain anti-inflammatory compounds that can reduce cell damage which can lead to cancer. Raspberries are higher in fiber than most others, and recent studies have shown that they inhibit both oral and liver cancer cells. Frozen berries with less water generally contain a higher concentration of these protective compounds.

Olives contain compounds that have been shown in lab studies to prevent the formation of cancer cells, and also contribute to the death of these cells. People who eat them as a part of the mediterranean diet have been less likely to develop colon cancer as well.
