There is this new diet technique called the ‘Sleep Diet’. Since it is being promoted by a celebrity (Jennifer Lopez), it is slowly gaining in popularity. She also said that the ‘Sleep Diet’ technique helped her lose weight after having a baby.
So what is the ‘Sleep Diet’ technique?
In simple terms, it is just the act of sleeping away our weight problems. Since no calories is taken in during sleep and calories continue to burn during sleep, we lose weight. It is that simple. It is like adding 0 to -1 (0 + (-1) = -1). Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me XD . I love to sleep but I still don’t lose weight.
However, don’t get me wrong. Sleep is essential to be healthy. Without enough sleep our bodily functions won’t work properly. We will be sluggish upon waking up in the morning. All I am saying is that all this hype around the ‘Sleep Diet’ is too much to be taken seriously.
But there is no stopping you from trying it out right? Let me know if it worked.

I’ve been taking up Sang Shin’s Java Programming with Passion course as a refresher for me (since I’ve already learned Java in college but forgot almost everything XD). It is a very very good refresher course and though I have almost forgotten everything that I have learned before, it’s all coming back to me now (is that a song?). So if you are interested in Java and want to learn or you already know Java but want to do some refreshing, this is the course I would strongly suggest you take.
As all things, we learn by practicing. And as the saying goes, practice makes perfect. The course mentioned above has exercises and homeworks to be done. Do it and I guarantee you that in no time, Java would like be drinking water to you. Anyway, since I have already finished some of the homeworks, I will be posting the answers here. This is not to let you ‘cheat’ but to guide you once got lost and have trouble coming back to the right track.
Home work1001:

Once I finish the other exercises, I’ll post them here. If you find anything wrong or incorrect with the code, please let me know. Thanks.

Another very informative read from one of my emails (from
http://www.funandfunonly.org/)
There are some foods that people who are at high risk for developing cancer should definitely avoid. Generally, says natural health researcher Mike Adams, they should avoid foods that contain ingredients known to cause cancer, such as refined sugars and grains hydrogenated oils, and nitrates. But which foods are the absolute worst?
The top five cancer-causing foods are:

1. Hot dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can’t live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.

2. Processed meats and bacon
Also high in the same found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.

3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams , may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.

4. French fries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acrylamides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French fries, said Adams .

5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.

2 personal concerns:
1) This is just to let everyone know that Globelines DSL was down from 01-15-2009 to 01-21-2009. According to the Globe customer service-bot, Globelines was undergoing maintenance. But what really was frustrating was the fact that Globelines never informed me of the said downtime beforehand. I put that in italics since they did call me a few days after the start of the so-called maintenance. They also said that I’ll be getting a pro-rated bill based on the actual number of days that I do have a serviceable internet connection. I am not sure how true that is.
2) I enrolled in this internet service with a promo package. I was supposed to get a printer and a headset if I availed of this service. They promised mid-December but was not able to make it. They then again said mid-January but nothing. I’ll be calling them again to find out why they still haven’t sent me the printer and headset.
Just want to note though that although Globelines’ service is not that good, it is still better compared to Smart BRO.
